R1Prospect and Walkerville

The inner north is old Adelaide: villas and bungalows on tree-lined streets, many with narrow side access and no driveway to speak of, and Prospect Road busy with shoppers and diners. Parking right outside is not always possible, so tell us how far it is from the front door to where a truck can stop. Character homes also tend to have narrow hallways and tight turns into the bedrooms, which matters for wardrobes and lounges.

Mawson Lakes is a planned suburb built around its lakes, with townhouses, terraces and apartment buildings alongside detached homes. R3Salisbury, Elizabeth and Paradise

Further north, Salisbury and Elizabeth have wide suburban streets and plenty of single-storey family homes with driveways, which usually makes for straightforward access. They are also a longer drive from the eastern and southern suburbs, so a move across the city takes that into account. Main North Road runs up through the region, with Port Wakefield Road and the North-South Motorway further west. Paradise sits in the north-east by the River Torrens and the O-Bahn interchange, with a mix of older homes and newer units.

R4Modbury, Golden Grove and Tea Tree Gully

The north-east rises towards the foothills. Modbury, around Tea Tree Plaza, has established family homes and units; Golden Grove is a planned suburb of family homes on curving estate streets; and Tea Tree Gully climbs the hills face, where blocks slope and driveways can be steep. A steep driveway changes how furniture is carried and where the truck parks, so it is one of the first things we ask about. Split-level homes and stairs to the front door are common here too.

• Stairs. Split levels, steps to the front door and two-storey homes all add carrying time.
• Estate streets. Cul-de-sacs and parked cars can mean a longer carry; tell us how far it is to the door.
• Buildings. For an apartment or townhouse complex, the lift, the car park and the move times allowed.
